This work of historical fiction is very interesting in that it covers a time and subject which I have not seen much written a about. The discrimination against Protestants in 1500s France is a theme at the center of this story. There is much intrigue, strong characters who portray the life and times of both women and men and an intimate look at the reign of Catherine de Medici. If you are interested in this time period this would be an excellent book to read.
